Metal-Free Tooth Restoration

When it comes to restoring teeth, there are several different options available to deal with problems such as a cracked tooth, decay, or cavities. In the past, restoring a tooth typically meant having to place those metal crowns, but holistic dentistry has evolved to the point where there are more aesthetically pleasing options available.
In the past, crowns were limited to metal or gold, but these options increase the odds of a potential allergic reaction. Thankfully, there is now the choice of going with zirconia crowns. Unlike the crowns of the past, these look just like a natural tooth and they are able to withstand the effects of chewing on hard foods.
If a tooth is not in significant decay, a holistic dentist may instead decide to go with an onlay or inlay versus a crown. With an onlay, the inside and top of the tooth is filled. Inlays share similarities to onlays, but are most often used if decay is minimal. An inlay is also considered an indirect filling like an onlay, because they both are formed outside the mouth before being bonded to the tooth. As opposed to an onlay, however, an inlay only fills the area on the inside of the tooth where the dentist removed the little decay.
Both inlays and onlays can be performed in one session. Assure a Smile uses CEREC technology and the materials used are biocompatible and safe. CEREC is a powerful and advanced dental technology backed by more than three decades of real world application and well over 200 clinical tests.
